AIME

The American Invitational Mathematics Examination, a 15-question, 3-hour test. Unguessable. Unforgiving. Designed to probe genuine mastery of combinatorics, geometry, number theory, functional equations, clever transformations, and deep pattern recognition. In AIME 2025, the top 5% scored 11. Rooting for your success!

AIME

Take an authentic 15 problem AIME I/II examination, randomly sampled from over 3000 questions sourced from contests held between 1984 and 2025.

AIME By Level

Ease into the AIME by sampling from the Easy section aka Problem 1,2,3. Experts can grind the superhard Problems 13,14,15. Test your luck with an AIME Snake & Ladders.

Contests

In-person team mathematics contests held across the United States, such as HMMT, SMT, PUMaC, and the Carmel Math Invitational, are always an excellent opportunity.

HMMT

Over 660 high-school problem solvers and 119 teams gathered at the recent Harvard/MIT Mathematics Tournament. November problems range from mid-AMC to upper-AIME difficulty, while February ramps up to mid-AIME through olympiad level

SMT

Run entirely by Stanford undergrads, the Stanford Math tournament will host ~800 high school contestants this year. Two 50-minute individual exams consisting of 10 short answer questions in Algebra, Calculus, Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Geometry.

Crossroads Math

Meet the all-star team of Hrishabh Bhowmik, Alex Gao,Arjun Raman and Ekansh Malhotra who created one of the highest quality mocks in recent years, INMC 2025

AMC 8/10/12

There are several excellent resources for students preparing for the 25 question 75 minute multiple choice Americal Mathematics Competitions.

AMC 10

invexic's Problem Trainer filters, sorts and analyzes problems by difficulty, time and category. invexic also provides a detailed breakdown of 2025 AMC10 papers, by level and subject category.

AMC 12

AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry.

Manifesto

Ask virtually any IMO medalist or USAMO winner:

  • They did hundreds or thousands of problems.
  • They read solutions obsessively.
  • They built theory after repeated failure
Not one of them says I mastered this by carefully following my school textbook. This includes winners trained in:
  • Russia
  • China
  • Romania
  • India
  • USA
Different cultures, same pattern.
  • School math is Platonic: it teaches ideal forms.
  • Contest math is probabilistic: you learn from exposure, variation, and failure.
  • Problem solvers, like birds, LEARN TO FLY ONLY BY FLYING

Messy Experiments

The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics - Halmos
I like doing things that are fun. If it’s not fun, I stop doing it - JHC
I hate teaching from books. Mathematics is something you do, not something you read - JHC
Play is essential to understanding mathematics - Feynman
If math does not reshape how you think, wonder, and play, it has failed you. Do not become mere Bible salesmen, reciting rules without curiosity. Math must remain a joyful act of exploration, a place where half-formed ideas are welcome. - Perlis
Mathematics is a product of clarity and understanding, not just theorems - William Thurston
A mathematician’s work is mostly a tangle of guesswork, analogy, wishful thinking and frustration - Gian Carlos Rota
Don't just read it. Fight it! - Terence Tao
Math is not a spectator sport - Polya
Advanced mathematics topics are best introduced to young students by motivating the concepts through problems - Titu Andrescu

Mathematicians warn against turning living ideas into dead scripture. Presenting math as a polished cathedral hides the messy, playful process by which it is actually created. Be outspoken against sterile math education. Encourage Experiments. Make Mistakes. TAKE RISKS. Above all else, P L A Y.

About

The Hoosier State has been remarkably fortunate to call home a number of world-class mathletes, including Mark Sellke (IMO Gold 2013,14), Vincent Yu (USAMO 2025), Edward Chen (USAJMO 2025), Arjun Ramani (USAMO 2016). Looking ahead, we place our confidence in the next generation of rising stars including Hrishabh Bhowmik, Jeffrey Xu, Arjun Raman, Sophia Chen, Kevin Chen, Alexander Gao, Bryan Yu,Allen Qian,Bach Kieu,Elaine Zeng,Vishnu Erraguntala...
